Ronda Rousey: "I'm Going To Kill The Next Person Who Calls Me Fat"
No one knows how to put on or drop weight quicker than an MMA fighter. Having to constantly weigh in can feel like a total drag. However, it can also be the next best secret tool for revenge.
Ronda "Rowdy" Rousey is simply sick of the way Hollywood tries to control people's bodies for their viewing pleasure, that's why she went against the grain and did something totally drastic. For a recent TV commercial, Rousey had hoped to go into it looking lean, "but because somebody said something really rude to me, I came into the shoot purposely way heavier," she said. "And the campaign ended up being amazing, even though I was heavier just to make a point.”
Rousey is over the name calling and the fat shaming game that seems to follow her, and she's taking a stand against it, not only by seeking revenge in commercials, but with some seriously scary threats as well. “I swear to God,“if anyone calls me fat one more time in my life, I’m going to kill them.”
Rousey's anger stems from her adolescent struggle with having a positive body image. She struggled with bulimia and always wore zip-ups even on hot days attending school in Los Angeles because she was afraid to show her "big arms." But thankfully, the superstar has a new outlook on her body and hopes to prove that there are many shapes and sizes that are beautiful. She even posed nude in 2012 for the cover of ESPN the Magazine. “If I can represent that body type of women that isn’t represented so much in media, then I’d be happy to do that,” she said. “When women say that going on publications directed at men is somehow demeaning, I don’t think that’s true. I think that’s one really effective way to change the societal standard women are held to.”
Rousey has gone on to do various other shoots for publications, representing the MMA community, the power of womanhood and an overall air of true confidence. She doesn't think she's fat, and you shouldn't either.
