Rumer Willis Shares Personal, Powerful Advice for Building Body Confidence
Rumer Willis hasn't had the dream lifestyle of a Hollywood kid growing up in the spotlight. Struggling with body image issues all her life, the Dancing With The Stars winner is finally speaking out about bullying and body shaming.
Daughter of famous parents Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, the 26 year old actress has grown up under the scrutiny of the spotlight.
"I was constantly bullied because of my looks, so I struggled a lot with my body image. I wanted to have no butt; I wanted to have no boobs. For a long time I just wanted to look tiny and androgynous." she reveals in a powerful essay published in Glamour.
In her dark times, Rumer recalls turning to mom Demi for advice and support.
"I do remember my mom telling me, "There’s always going to be someone more fit. There’s always someone who’s going to be, in your mind, better than you—who you’re comparing yourself to. But you can’t do that, because you will live such an unhappy life.”
Despite her mother's honest and inspiring words, it took years for Rumer to really come to terms with herself and build the strong sense of self confidence she has today.
"Life’s hard enough as it is. Let’s find strength in the fact that we’re different and unique. Let’s allow ourselves to say, “These are my flaws, but I’m still beautiful.” Let’s find our own value, know what we have to offer—and know that that is enough."
We think Rumer is doing an amazing job and we're proud to see her strength shine through! Share with us your own personal messages for building killer confidence :)
