Molly Huddle jumped the gun before she could claim her third place win in the World Athletics Championships in Beijing. The 30-year-old 10,000 meter American runner was devastated to learn that she was not the bronze medal winner. After slowing down and relaxing towards the finish line, Molly was passed by fellow competitor, Emily Infeld. If Molly had just maintained her speed for moments longer, the title would have been hers. "Emily was right there the whole time with just more momentum. She got that bronze. It's going to take a long time to get over. Emily slipped on the inside as I eased up a bit. She got this once-in-a-lifetime moment. I feel like it kind of slipped through my fingers, so it’s frustrating." sobbed Molly. Letting her guard down a little too soon is something Molly will never do again. She is still one of the fittest, fastest women in America and she is waiting for her next chance to shine. As for the third place victor, Emily Infeld, she had this to say: "I feel a little guilty because I feel like Molly let up a little. I don't think she realised how close I was. I was just trying to run through the line. I'm really thrilled." What are your thoughts? Has something like this ever happened to you? Source: Daily Mail Do you follow us on Instagram?
