The infamous "duck face" pose has long been a lover of social media mavens taking countless selfies. And while many have poked fun at the trend, it has continued to be the face among many. But, there's a new pucker on the scene that celebrities are taking hold of, so take note! When it comes to making big social appearances, like hitting up the red carpet, celebrities have to be careful about every movement they make as cameras constantly flash in their direction. One weird trip up or droop of the face and the media will be firing off about the funny or embarrassing look one of the most beloved beauties in the industry flaunted. So, they often take to perfecting various looks to ensure they keep their cool in any and all photos. And while the duck face has been a favourite in the past, it's out with the old and in with the new, which is now the "fish gape." fish gape fish gape fish gape Psychologist Dr Becky Spelman says of the trend, "For a long time, the fear of giving too much of the artist’s personality away on this public platform kept a relatively narrow set of rules; stand like this, keep your face like this etc. This next generation are far more used to exposing their personalities through playing around on camera. However, the development of the social media generation, and particularly the rise and rise of the selfie, has seen these rules be widened, as this next generation are far more used to exposing their personalities through playing around on camera. This has led to a trend whereby, rather than be sullen and still, celebrities are being more playful in public. The duck face was widely used, but as with many things in life reached a saturation point, whereby it became a negative thing to be associated with by many who wish to retain their edge. To be at the forefront of a new trend allows the individual to be seen as an innovator, which breathes life into their coolness." What do you think of this new trend?
