Science Proves That These 3 Factors Make You A Serial Cheater

November 03, 2015 2 min read

It has been reported that certain underlying factors can contribute to a person's likeliness to stray, and if they will stray from every new relationship they encounter. Here are the three components that can contribute to a cheater's lust for another, as outlined by ASAPscience.

Hormones:

dna genetics cheating Two hormones come into the picture when it comes to infidelity - Dopamine and Vasopressin. Dopamine is our body's happiness inducer. Some people are born with an increased Dopamine receptor, and this trait makes them higher candidates for becoming cheaters. 50% of those born with a long allele variant (or an increased Dopamine receptor) have cheated on their partner. The Vassopressin hormone is the chemical compound that causes us to be monogamous. But some people have lower amounts of this hormone than others, as they are born with a gene variant that restricts it. Without Vassopressin, these people are more likely to stray and less likely to feel empathy for those they are harming.

Money:

wealth status infidelity Data has proven that people who make higher amounts of income than the average ratio are more likely to have s*x outside of their marriage. Those on the lower income bracket are more faithful to their partners. Interestingly, men who are stay-at-home fathers are also at a higher risk of cheating rather than those who spend their day in the workplace.

Emotions:

emotions sadness alcohol abuse Non-genetic factors are far more complex to measure than hormones. Emotional issues can reek havoc on someone's mental health and cause unexplained behaviour such as a need to cheat. Past experiences, parental influences and even alcohol are factors in infidelity.
