Most of us know of the well-touted health benefits of green tea, ranging from weight loss (3 cups per day burns about 90 calories), cancer prevention, lowering blood sugar and skin health, but many people may have not considered adding this usually toasty drink to their smoothies. Well, neither did we - at first. We heard about this great recipe from a friend, gave it a go, and loved it to bits. Definitely on our go-to list for quick, tasty and healthy pick-me-ups!
2 cups berries, frozen or fresh. If fresh, add 3-4 ice cubes for a thicker consistency
1 cup steeped and cooled green tea
1-2 tablespoons of honey (depending on your sweet tooth) or Stevia if you'd like a zero calorie sweetener. We recommend 1/2 a tablespoon of the non-bitter variety
1/2 lemon, squeezed
Toss your ingredients into the blender and mix until smooth.
Tip: To add some healthy fat to this recipe, toss in ¼ of an avocado, 7-10 almonds or 1 tablespoon of natural nut butter.
