Smoothie Recipes: Shirley Temple Smoothie!

Ah, yes, we remember sitting at Swiss Chalet, and sipping a Shirley Temple while out parents sipped their wine or beer. Man, we felt all grown up. It’s amazing what a drink can do.

Well, guess what, you ARE grown up now and you can enjoy that Shirley Temple feeling without the sugar high. (Jive on the healthy high, people!)

This is one of our favorite pre-workout smoothie recipes. You’ll need to add a shot of protein to make it ideal for an after sweat-fest smoothie.

You’ll need:

1 cup frozen pitted cherries

1 medium orange, peeled

½ lime, squeezed

½ lemon, squeezed

⅓ cup water or low fat milk (or milk alternative)

½ - 1 tablespoon agave nectar or honey to taste

Directions:

Toss all the ingredients into the blender, mix and enjoy. TIP: Add a couple cubes of ice for a thicker consistency.
