Smoothies: The Ultimate Breakfast for Busy People

If you are like most of my clients and you have a tendency to skip breakfast then I’ve got just the thing for you! Smoothies offer an amazing opportunity to get as much nutrients into one cup as possible! While you can go too crazy with superfoods, sometimes simple is better. rawfood Liquid or blended meals are amazing when you are cramped for time or when you are really stressed out because the blender has pre-chewed the food for you. But this doesn’t mean you can just guzzle it back, I want you to still chew it so that the food can mix with the natural digestive enzymes in your saliva. It’s an important part of the digestive process. Being that smoothies are blended, it provides an opportunity to sneak some more unpleasant tasting ingredients into your diet because it masks the taste. You can easily hide green veggies and spirulina in there without even knowing! You will need a good blender to get the consistency right. If you remember back to the Food Prep lesson, I recommend either the Vitamix or NutriBullet. If you are a single person, then the NutriBullet is the way to go. I suggest spending the little bit of extra money and getting the Pro Edition! Another important smoothie tip is to not just make a big sugar bomb. By that I mean, don’t make a smoothie with all really sweet fruits, balance it out and add some kale, spinach or greens powder. I know sweeter tastes better, but it kind of defeats the purpose of a healthy breakfast, because it can cause a huge spike in your blood sugar and cause a subsequent energy crash.
