Sneaky Meat-Free Proteins #9: Quinoa

Quinoa is one of my FAVORITE health foods of all time. It's like a whole grain version of couscous, and the little round grains taste awesome. What makes it better is the fact that quinoa contains about 8 grams of protein per cup. It's the perfect complex carbohydrate thanks to the fiber, but it's an added source of protein that makes the ideal complement to any steak or chicken breast. It's super rich in fiber -- It turns out that quinoa has TWICE the digestive fiber of most other whole grains. That fiber does wonders for your heart, digestive system, and weight loss. It contains all nine amino acids -- Your body cannot produce muscle fibers without nine essential amino acids, and quinoa is one of the few grains to contain all nine. Talk about a superfood, quinoa is one of the best!
