How to Stop the Insanity and Get Off the Weight Loss Roller Coaster!
Yes, I’m talking to you and yes, you may have to face the fact that you’re driving yourself to insanity!
Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. –Albert Einstein
The reason is simple. You keep chasing your tail around in circles trying to lose weight or achieve the body composition you have always desired all the while refusing to do anything differently. You’re obsessing more, enjoying food less, causing yourself more stress (endless mind chatter) and completely disconnecting yourself from how you feel. I will say it again; you keep using the same tools to fix a problem when CLEARLY they are not working! Right about now you’re going through the list in your head and saying to yourself “She cannot be referring to me, cause I HAVE tried everything! Juice cleanses, meal delivery, counting points, two “healthy” pre-made powdered shakes a day, fat burning pills, you name it, I’ve done it. But whatever, this chick obviously doesn’t know what the hell she is talking about! Yes, I hear what you’re saying. I'm just not buying it. All of the above may seem like VERY different approaches and some very healthy ones at that. However, the reasons why none of them worked for you in the long-term and you still find yourself struggling, boils down to three ways these diets failed you.1) You’re not learning anything
We all want to take the path of least resistance. But when you choose what is easy and let someone do the work for you. Essentially you are cheating yourself and actually causing more work. “That’s ok, you say, because once you’ve lost the weight, you will be able to keep it off, and it will TOTALLY be worth it!" However that is not going to happen. It does not matter what “program” it is or even how healthy it is. If you are skipping all the steps and just blindly eating what is in front of you without understanding why and learning how to prepare and plan yourself, you will fail. You will be on or off a “diet” forever. The best program is one in which knowledge is being imparted, and you learn to easily prepare your own food, eat out and even travel too. Basically just live your life on your own terms by adopting new priorities! That’s why, as boring as it may sound, education is the cornerstone of my weight loss practice. Once you have the education, nobody can take that away from you.
2) It is just not sustainable
I believe the MOST important part of a weight loss program is sustainability. I always say that the plan someone will actually DO beats the “perfect” plan every single time! If you start something that you cannot do FOREVER, you have already failed. We live in a society that is addicted to instant gratification. The fact that "Jenny Craig" topped the list for best weight loss program in 2011 says it all. I mean REALLY? Boxed processed foods; that's the answer to the obesity problem? Kirstie Alley is a fantastic example of just how sustainable that is! How many times now have we watched her lose 50lbs only to gain back 80lbs?
