Strange But True Fitness Tips #8: Get Off the Elliptical

A lot of people treat the elliptical machine like the Holy Grail of cardio machines. After all, it's supposed to work your upper body along with your cardio, right? Isn't it better than running or cycling? According to one Los Angeles trainer [1], the elliptical machine is the WORST one to use for fat burning. Why is this? Well, it seems that most people rely on momentum to keep them going. The momentum of their arms and legs moving makes the workout easier, and the low resistance does very little to burn fat. It does get your heart pumping and your body warm, but it's NOT the most effective cardio exercise for fat loss. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="628"] Source: bvretreat.com[/caption] You may need to do up to an hour to achieve the same amount of fat loss as you'd get with just 20 minutes of HIIT training on the treadmill or stationary bike. The only way to get an effective elliptical workout is to constantly change the intensity and resistance, but many people do a fairly steady, mindless workout on the elliptical. Use it to warm up or reduce muscle soreness, but consider using another machine for your primary cardio workout!

We ship within Canada and the United States via FedEx with expedited 2-Day shipping.

For locations outside of the US and Canada, we ship using FedEx International, which is usually in transit for 5-7 business days, depending on location.

We ship all of our physical products with FedEx, from our warehouse location in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Signatures are required on all orders.

Returns & Exchanges

BodyRock Equipment

We offer a 30-day return policy, as long as: it is not more than 30 days past the date of delivery; and your item is in its original condition and packaging with the original order number. Refunds will be issued when the equipment is received back to the BodyRock warehouse, minus the original cost of shipping, and the customer is responsible for the costs of return shipping. To request a refund on physical product purchases, please contact us.

Digital Products

We cannot issue refunds on digital goods such as e-books or videos, as these are non-tangible goods that are irrevocable once the order is placed.
