Stylist Hilariously Spoofs Mainstream Fashion Campaigns!
Nathalie Croquet is a French fashion stylist who decided to copy high-end campaigns featuring supermodels like Kate Moss and beautiful actresses like Penelope Cruz.
"Advertising images erase every detail of the skin [and] all imperfections. I feel people need a more spiritual approach to life, and good fun. I’m happy to give them that, even if I’m just making fun of myself.” Nathalie comments on her spoof photography.
In this picture, Nathalie spoofs a popular Etam shoot. Unafraid to show her skin imperfections completely Photoshop-free, the photo is a comment on how campaigns like this mask true beauty by not allowing wrinkles, blemishes and lines into high-glamour shots.
"Models, fashion designers, even the ad agencies gave us amazing feedback." Nathalie tells the Huffington Post.
By placing herself in comparison to what society deems as 'stunningly beautiful' women, she makes a powerful point that these campaigns don't accurately speak to the female population. While every woman is gorgeous, every woman has flaws which make up their beauty. There is no real-life Photoshop, so why try to blur everything out in order to market to real women? Why can't ads represent more of the audience they are targeting?
What are your thoughts on this spoof?
