How To Tell If Someone Owes You Sex

August 14, 2014 1 min read

I’m not exactly sure how to write about this flow chart without being super preachy, and all “hells yeah sister!” but I will try. This image was created by well-known feminists and social media presences Elizabeth Plank and Raquel Reichard to highlight just how ridiculous it is to presume that someone owes you sex. It takes a lot of common ideas about why men would assume that a woman should have sex with him; if you bought her dinner, if you’re a nice guy, if she’s had sex with you before, etc. and brings it home with a resounding “it doesn’t matter – consent matters.” Side note, the chart is focused on women having the onus put on them for sex, but I’m all about the equal opportunity – and this chart could just as easily refer to men. Ladies, just because you made him a sandwich, it doesn’t mean his penis belongs to you. I’m not sure how I can continue to elaborate on such a beautifully succinct point, so instead, for those not getting it yet, I’ll just repeat it: NO ONE OWES ANYONE ANYTHING.
