The "Fat Child on Plane" Victim from Nicole Arbour's "Dear Fat People" Speaks Out
While we have all either taken a side for or against comedian Nicole Arbour regarding her recent YouTube video, "Dear Fat People," there are still a lot of questions left up in the air, like whether or not some of her statements were directed at personal people. For one blogger, he claims that he was one of the subjects in Arbour's rant.
In one portion of the video, Arbour tells the story of sitting next to "Jabba the kid" on a plane. Now, an anonymous writer on the blog Tony Posnanski has made the decision to announce that he was indeed the kid she was referring to for her story, and that the "fat family" she poked fun at was his.
"Around 4 minutes and 30 seconds of your video, you talked about a very 'fat' child that you had to sit next to. He smelled like sausages, and you had to put the armrest down to separate the fat from your seat. Then you claimed you had to hold the fat with your hands while we were flying. And after that you looked at the child and said 'make better choices.' I was that child and that was my family," the writer stated.
The boy, who has written about his struggle with his weight in the past, says that Arbour's judgement of him without even getting to know him was uncalled for. "You humiliated me by yelling and screaming about my weight.... You wanted to make me feel ashamed. You did not even know that on that day I hit my 10 pounds lost mark that day on the plane. I have and will always continue to struggle with my weight (but) I will never lose weight because of your horrible words. Congratulations on going viral. I am glad it came at the expense of making fun of my family… and me," he said.
Do you think this writer makes a valid point?
