The Horrifying Reason Why This Woman Heard Scratching In Her Ear
25-year-old Li Meng thought she was under some sort of ancient curse when she couldn't find a source for the mysterious starching inside her ear. The China native went for a nature hike with her boyfriend one afternoon, and when she returned she began hearing the sound deep in her ear drum.
Li had bouts of sharp, pulsing pain within her ear canal so she began taking over-the-counter painkillers. The scratching sound and extreme pain were not alleviated by medication, and Li knew it was time to seek out medical help. She passed by a temple to pray on her way to the doctor, hoping she was not afflicted by an evil spirit.
The doctor delivered some highly unusual and shocking news to Li. Dr. Chen Zhao Ye of the Xiamen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital conducted an exam, and discovered the problem - a spider web was embedded in Li's ear!
The scratching noise had come from the creature weaving it's web. Dr. Ye did not want the spider to bite Li, so he took precautions as he tweezed the critter out of her ear canal. Li was put under sedation during the procedure to relax her. She is now healthy and no permanent damage was done to her hearing.
