The Many Wonders of MACA
Maca? Until a few months ago I had never heard of maca but now I consume it almost daily. It all started when a good friend of mine gave me a bite of her maca-chocolate bar. It was amazing and healthy for you! I needed to know more about this thing called maca. What is Maca? Maca is a root vegetable from the Peruvian Andes. Maca boosts energy and stabilizes your mood. It is a Superfood and regulates, balances and supports the hormonal systems in women and men. Inca warriors used to consume generous amounts of maca before battle to maximize their energy and stamina. More benefits of Maca: • helps your body adapt to stress • increases memory and brain power • strengthens the skin • increases libido and fertility • better sleep • reduces symptoms of menopause and PMS • helps to reduce aches and pain How did I not know this "miracle" root existed until recently. I want to use it everyday but what does it go in? What to use maca in? Maca usually comes in a powder form and you can get it at your local health food store. I have started adding maca to my smoothies every morning. When baking you can add a couple of teaspoons of maca to your batter to boost the nutrient content. Also add it to juices, teas, almond milk or sprinkle it on any dessert as the flavor doesn't overpower other flavors. Here is my new favorite smoothie recipe with maca. Mango Maca Smoothie 1 Mango - Cut off all mango meat 1 banana - sliced up 2 tbsp. Maca 1/2 Cup of ice 1 Cup Almond milk Blend on high for 1 minute. Serve and enjoy.
