The Nipple Orgasm: Fact or Fiction?

You've probably heard the stories. Tales of women reaching climax through little more than the stimulation of their breasts. But are these tales really true?  Can orgasmic pleasure really stem from the breasts or are these stories just beautiful myths and legends like unicorns and leprechauns? If you are lucky enough to own a pair of breasts, you are likely thinking one of two things: "heck yes, nipple orgasms are real!" or "I'm skeptical but I'm willing to test drive the theory." It may take some trial and error, but nipple orgasms are indeed possible. It all comes down to sensitivity. The size of your breasts and nipples may play a big role in determining your sensitivity levels. Because the nerves are closer together, research has found that smaller breasts are more sensitive and receptive to breast stimulation. Another study has found that larger nipples are more sensitive than smaller ones. This, of course, will not be true for every woman but it provides a useful starting point. boob2 [bctt tweet="The Nipple Orgasm: Fact or Fiction?"] Now that you have an idea about where you may land on the breast sensitivity scale, it is time to open the lines of communication with your partner. Start with something that  Stephen de Wit, Ph.D., sexologist and author of the forthcoming book  The Sexual Freedom System,  calls  “sensate focus.” Have your partner touch you as lightly and slowly as possible. Have them circle their fingers around your nipple, your areolae (the part around your nipple), and your breast.  de Wit says doing this can  “create a slower, more intimate sex session." At the very least, this type of touching can lead to something very intense and powerful! If nipple stimulation isn't something you enjoy (7% of woman say it actually decreases their level of arousal), have your partner cup your breasts or touch the surrounding area. That may actually work better for you. When it comes to actually inducing orgasm, nipple play can totally do the trick! Research has found that stimulating a woman's nipples lights up the same part of the brain that becomes active when the clitoris is stimulated. Unfortunately, because we are all so drastically different, there is no step by step guide to the nipple orgasm. You'll have to experiment and see what feels best to you. boob3 Big, small, sensitive or not, be kind to our breasts while you are figuring this all out!  Don't forget to wear a well-fitting, supportive sports bra while you are crushing your free, 10-minute, workouts in the BodyRock Beginner Bootcamp and the BodyRock Intermediate Bootcamp.  These workouts will have you moving up, down and all over while you challenge your body and you don't want to cause yourself any pain or create friction.
