This 103-Year-Old Woman Proves Age Really Is Just a Number
When someone surpasses 100 years of age, it feels like an incredible feat. But most of us don't typically associate someone of this age as being up and at 'em, so to speak. Mary Cotter recently turned 103-years-old, and to celebrate her birthday, she did something much less passive than sitting back in a rocking chair and watching the day pass by.
Cotter celebrated her birthday by dressing up as Wonder Woman with a costume gifted to her by her friends, who say that she is the real-life Wonder Woman. It's hard to argue with that, since she opted out of blowing candles at home with friends and chose to celebrate her big day by volunteering at Montclair Senior Center, where she provides tea, coffee and water — something she's been doing for the past 25 years. “They call me the barmaid because I’m serving drinks,” she told KABC-TV.
Though you can call Cotter a centenarian, she certainly proves age is just a number. Along with volunteering at the center five days a week, she also lives alone and still drives herself around. How does she stay so sharp you might ask? “Just keep busy I guess,” she told KABC-TV.
“I love this lady,” Lupe Navarrete, her colleague, commented on the ABC News channel’s Facebook page. “I work with Mary at the volunteer center. She has more energy than most of us younger folks!! Always smiling and hugs us when we walk in! Super woman she is!! Happy 103 Birthday Mary Cotter, love your friend.”
