At the best of times, losing weight is difficult and can feel next to impossible. Clean eating and exercising become all the more difficult when our lives are in emotional upheaval. The unfortunate reality is that nothing in life will ever go smoothly, all of the time. We need to know how to navigate these road blocks and use those challenges to our advantage.

Aaron Bleyhaert wrote a guide to weight loss in which he outlined in 4 easy steps to reaching your goals. It has taken the internet by storm. He was honest and courageous in his advice and his explanation of how he came to lose 80 pounds. Here are Bleyhaert's tips and how you may come to apply them in your own life.

1. No Beer

As Bleyhaert rightfully says, "every time you drink a beer, it’s like eating seven slices of bread." But we can take that one more step and say no alcohol. While there are some drinks that are better than others, the majority of the time, alcoholic drinks are empty calories that don't do your efforts any favours. Why undo that gym session at happy hour?

2. Portion Control

Bleyhaert offers a great tip when it comes to portion control and dining out. He says, "when your meal comes, cut it in half and right away ask for a takeout container, so that you can save the rest for later." This is a great idea when you consider that the majority of portions offered in restaurants are well above what is recommended and healthy. Bleyhaert also says that ordering lean protein and vegetables is also useful when trying to trim down. And remember, when eating at home, make sure vegetables are the bulk of your meal!

3. Have Your Heart Broken

And this, is where we can all stand with Bleyhaert. We've all been hurt. We've all felt broken and tossed aside. We've all wanted to just give up and crawl into a dark hole. But, we haven't all used it to our advantage. We haven't all done what Bleyhaert did. He took his pain and used it to fuel exercise and healthy eating. He used it to be better and feel better. And in turn, this exercise and self care routine lead to his healing. He says, "join the gym at your work. Start going to the gym regularly, and even though you don’t know that much about exercise and you’re way too weak to do pretty much anything but lift 5 lb weights and use the elliptical machines with the old people, do it until your sweat makes a puddle on the floor. Then go home and go to bed early and the next day do it again. And then again. And then again." Bleyhaert went through a year of heartache, a year of pushing himself physically and mentally before he reached his current body. How many of us use that pain as a reason to give up and fall into a tub of ice cream? While tempting and understandable, it clearly isn't the healthiest move. And while it may feel like it at first, in the end it isn't about showing up an ex. It isn't about being hotter after the break up. It is about loving yourself enough to be healthy. It will feel like a struggle, but Bleyhaert offers this important reminder: "It’s about being able to wait. Waiting, being patient, and trusting that life will slowly inch along and things will eventually get better. After all, change takes time. But time is all it takes."

Love yourself. [bctt tweet="A Truly Honest Guide To Losing Weight"]

4. No Fruit Juice

While fruit in moderation is very good for you, fruit juices not so much. As Bleyhaert says, "Too much sugar!!!"

Shipping & Delivery

Due to COVID-19, shipping systems the world over are experiencing abnormal delays. There is an enormous demand on postal and delivery services as online shopping has skyrocketed, due to store closures and stay-at-home mandates. This is an unprecedented situation, and we are working around the clock to fulfill your orders as quickly as possible. To be clear, we are filling orders in 2-3 days, and we are shipping immediately after that. Once shipped, our shipping partner, UPS, will get your order out to you as quickly as possible. Thanks for your support and understanding.

Are you in Canada? Specifically, are you outside of a metropolitan centre? We need to alert you to a disruption in shipping due to COVID-19. Our preferred shipping provider, UPS, has informed us that they cannot guarantee express shipping for many locations. We have also seen that packages delivered to Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, etc, are not waylaid, but packages delivered to areas just outside of these cities are being held in transit for days or even weeks. UPS has discontinued their guarantee of 1-4 day delivery, which you can read more about here. Therefore, we can guarantee early fulfillment but not early delivery of our goods from our warehouse to your door at this time.

We want you to start your fitness journey with us as quickly as possible, that’s why we send every package to the USA & Canada via expedited or standard shipping with our partners at UPS. Once your order is received and processed, it typically takes 2-4 days to get to you once it leaves our warehouse. That’s our commitment and we stand by it.

We ship within Canada and the United States via UPS with Standard & Expedited shipping (whichever is faster)

For locations outside of the US and Canada, we ship using FedEx International (EUROPE and Other Nations), which is usually in transit for 7-10 business days, depending on location.

We ship all of our physical products with UPS, from our warehouse location in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Delays caused due to custom withholds are not included in these estimated delivery times.

Returns & Exchanges

BodyRock Equipment

We offer a 30-day return policy, as long as: it is not more than 30 days past the date of delivery; and your item is in its original condition and packaging with the original order number. Refunds will be issued when the equipment is received back to the BodyRock warehouse, minus the original cost of shipping, and the customer is responsible for the costs of return shipping. To request a refund on physical product purchases, please contact us.

Digital Products

We cannot issue refunds on digital goods such as e-books or videos, as these are non-tangible goods that are irrevocable once the order is placed.

Clothing

All of the BodyRock clothing is made to order and so is final sale. If you have any questions about sizing prior to placing your order, please contact us.
