We all know that lack of sleep makes us feel funny. We complain about bags under our eyes, feeling lethargic, moody and kind of out of it. But did you know that when you lack the proper amount of sleep you need, you're decreasing the health and overall wellbeing of your body?
While most of us attribute a bad night of sleep to the feeling of anxiousness or out of the blue bad luck, others are simply opting to stay up late and get up early, therefore losing out on their beauty rest. The result is that about a third of American's aren't getting enough shut-eye. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that roughly 30 percent of adults are sleeping fewer than six hours per night.
If you're one of those 30 percent who isn't catching enough Z's, it's time to listen up. Yahoo Health
has provided you with an infographic that will give you plenty of reasons to hit the hay, meanwhile explaining exactly how you're harming your health by not getting the proper amount needed.
As you can see, lack of sleep leads to problems from the inside out. From an increase in wrinkles and fine lines to bloodshot eyes, under-eye circles and droopy eyelids - it just doesn't look good on you. Being exhausted is also terrible for your weight, since it slows your metabolism, and even leads to you likely consuming more calories than needed.
Do you get enough sleep every night?
