This Man's Social Media Timeline Of His Heartbreaking Split

Breaking up is a lot more of a public affair than it was less than a decade ago. Now as soon as things are through, all of your friends and family can witness the removal of your matching profile pictures, the changing of 'in a relationship' to 'single' and the petty jabs, drunken rants or any other messy updates that come with heartbreak. social media breakup Scott Muska has been there, and he was open enough to share this personal timeline that illustrates his entire breakup that played out in front of his Facebook audience. The First Night 'My heart hurts. I can’t believe this is happening.' Scott types as he mopes in his bed, pressing replay on the same sad song. He changes his relationship status to 'no info to show'. He can't come to terms with being single yet. Day Three  Scott consumes a bottle of Scotch and a homemade cake from his mother, posting both on Facebook to reveal how he is coping. He receives worried messages from friends, and finds comfort in their concern. Day Five  Scott posts a video of The Cure’s Just Like Heaven.  "Some people theorize that this song is about going down on a woman." he explains. "I realize I miss doing this for my ex, but don’t think it’s appropriate to post this sentiment on social media." One Month Later Upon noticing a picture of his ex with a new man, Scott and his roommate criticize the guy's appearance before Scott passive-agreesively 'likes' the photo. "I imagine the scenario where she marries this guy, and I un-friend her." Scott says. The Next Year Scott is happy in a new relationship, and has moved to a new town. "One day, I get a friend request from my ex. It makes me feel strange, like I have butterflies, but not the good kind. More like the kind you get when you’re about to give a presentation that you know is going to be horrible. I decide not to accept her request." he recalls. He is pleased with his life and doesn't wish to dig up the past. It took time, but he has officially moved on. Can you relate to Scott's story? What are your experiences with social media breakups?
