This New Photo Series Celebrates New Moms and Their Beautiful Bodies

The pressure women face  to "bounce back" after having a baby is a very real reality. Whether it be from friends, family or acquaintances, people love to encourage a new mom to look her best. But what if looking and feeling your best didn't have a size? Celebrating what post-baby bodies really look like, a group of mothers took part in a powerful series of black and white portraits that serves as encouragement for all new moms to love the skin they're in, and to turn a blind eye to the pressure of losing pregnancy weight. This photo series celebrates self-love for new moms. The woman behind the series is Rockledge, Florida resident Natalie McCain. She photographed the women between three to six weeks post birth, calling the project "After the Baby is Born." The photos are part of Natalie's self-love project called "The Honest Body," which seeks to put an end to body-shaming. This photo series celebrates self-love for new moms. "These women are baring their hearts and souls to help show the variations of bodies after giving birth." This photo series celebrates self-love for new moms. With each photo comes a moving quote from the mother who is modeling. "There’s something really beautiful about the way my newborn’s tiny body molds into my soft, squishy postpartum belly," one woman noted. "While rock hard abs might be something I aspire to someday in the future, I’m really glad that isn’t my reality right now. The body I have is perfect for snuggling my baby!" Another woman noted how difficult it was to be a plus-size pregnant woman during her pregnancy. "I don’t want to be skinny. I just want to be healthy for me, my family, and my son, but it is hard," she explained. "It’s hard to feel beautiful with all of the tiger stripes across my body and all the extra weight I’ve gained." This photo series celebrates self-love for new moms.
