How we are raised is crucial to the way we develop as adults. The behaviours we witness as children can either negatively or positively impact our views, beliefs and personalities. So when it comes to cheating, what is your stance? Research claims that people who were raised in a household where cheating took place are TWICE as likely to cheat on their current partner. infidelity in relationship Texas Tech University conducted a recent study to prove their hypothesis that cheating springs about from parental infidelity. Study author Dana Weiser, Ph.D, explains that genetics also play a role in how well you maintain monogamy. Certain biological traits like an enhanced dopamine receptor make you more prone to seek out multiple s*xual relationships. So a cheater can be born a cheater, raised a cheater or a combination of both. If your parents were monogamous and didn't forsake each other, then you have no reason to fear that you will have an urge to stray from your partner. That being said, the real key to staying faithful to someone is to have a healthy relationship. Maintaining good communication, honest dialogue and adding in some spontaneity every now and then will strengthen your bond and solidify the meaningfulness of your relationship.
