Threesome App, Great News For Couple's Sex Lives. Right?
Threesomes.
We've all thought about it at one time or another. Some feel enticed by the idea, others turned off or even freaked out.
A new app has been thrust into the spotlight that helps make it happen. 3nder (pronounced Threender) is a mobile hookup app that connects couples and individuals together to engage in three-ways. Users create a profile as a couple seeking a third, or vice-versa. They can also adjust their privacy settings, so they can browse free from friends and family.
So are we entering a new age of openness and understanding, or is just a new form of cyber promiscuity?
No doubt, there is some fun to be had in a threesome, depending on your combination preference of course. However they aren’t for everyone. Some people know that they just wouldn’t feel comfortable with sharing their significant other in such a way.
On the other hand, I have a friend who is married to her husband, and both love to swing and engage with other partners. For them, the love between them is as strong as ever, but their view of sex is grounded in the idea of pleasure and new experiences. When I asked them why having sex with each other isn’t enough, they responded “how could we have possession over each other’s sexuality?”.
I saw their point of view, but had a hard time accepting the rational in my shoes. One night stands aside, any sex I've ever had with a significant other has been mutually agreed as an experience that both parties would have a hard time sharing. It doesn't feel like ownership, rather it feel more like an important connection between two people that is hard to involve others in.
However sometimes couples feel like their relationship needs a kick in the pants with adventure. This can definitely work for some, but still has the potential to go horribly wrong.
Obviously if such a feat is to be attempted, communication is the most important component. Another good friend of mine got together with his then girlfriend, and her friend, because their wasn’t really any clarification on what was cool and what wasn’t, it ended horribly. It was considered the nail in the coffin for the relationship.
Regardless, 3nder is great news for anyone who engages in the practice of three-ways, or wants to fulfil that late night fantasy, by adding the ease of social networking to a kind of touchy proposition. Although the app’s release will promote the ease of group hookups, the idea of a threesome should still not be regarded as necessarily an easy thing to go through with.
