At my favourite vegan, organic café they serve a vegan date shake. I have been dying to try it and once I did I knew I could recreate it at home with my own recipe. This shake is a perfect treat before or after your workout, or a as a late night dessert. Dates are nature’s candy and can be used to sweeten just about anything. The sweetness of the dates makes you think you are eating something that is bad for you but this Vegan Date Shake is healthy and delicious. I am always looking for recipes that are vegan and also healthy and I end up creating a lot of my own recipes because I try something that I know I can recreate. I also try to make unhealthy foods healthy and then I never feel like I am missing out on anything. #Skinnyrecipe: Vegan Date Shake Ingredients: 3 dates ½ cup ice 1 banana 1/cup almond milk 2 shakes of cinnamon Option: Add a scoop of vanilla protein powder if you are having this shake before a tough workout. It will fuel your body. Directions: 1. De-pit and cut dates into small pieces. 2. Place in blender followed by ice, banana, almond milk and cinnamon. 3. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes. Servings: one shake Serve and enjoy! The café that I originally got this from adds chocolate syrup to their shake but I don’t think it’s necessary. You could also add agave if you don’t think its sweet enough, but trust me dates are sweet enough to do the trick. What else will you add to your shake?
