We Reveal The Ultimate Key To A Happy Marriage!
If you're hoping to live happily ever after, you may be a little worried by the constant threat of rising divorce rates and troubled marriages being exposed in the media. You can't imagine you and your partner ending up like that right now, but what if marriage takes a toll? How do you ensure your partnership will stand the test of time? The University of Georgia has completed extensive research into the topic of what makes long lasting marriages...well, last. How do those couples who celebrate their 50th anniversaries manage to stay in wedded bliss for so many decades? After interviewing nearly 500 couples, the institute found that the biggest secret to being happy is expressing gratitude. "Feeling appreciated and believing that your spouse values you directly influences how you feel about your marriage, how committed you are to it, and your belief that it will last." explains Ted Furtis, the co-author of the study. "What distinguishes the marriages that last from those that don't is not how often they argue, but how they argue and how they treat each other on a daily basis." It is as simple as that. The study found that things like saying "thank you" and giving genuine compliments regularly helped to strengthen the bond between couples. These gestures can even go as far as to boost the health of of an individual, as being appreciated and valued has been shown to alleviate stress and anxiety. The less stressed a person is, the less likely they are to develop high blood pressure, digestive issues and sleep problems. What are your thoughts?
