October 08, 2015 2 min read

Burger King's black Whopper has people talking, many questioning how the black bun burger really tastes. The limited-edition Halloween Whopper launched in the UK this month, and was introduced in Japan earlier this year. burger king whopper It's made up of a flame-grilled beef patty topped with melted American cheese, BBQ sauce, ripe tomatoes, fresh lettuce, creamy mayonnaise, crunchy pickles and sliced white onions. In Japan, it featured bamboo cheese and squid ink sauce, both black. How do they get the bun black? It's stained with a natural colourant and a BBQ flavour has even been baked into the bread. This is what Burger King's black Whopper really tastes like. But is it worth the bite? Everyone's wondering what it really tastes like, so FEMAIL taste-tested it to find out.

This is what Burger King's black Whopper really tastes like.

Lauren Anthony, 22, a video editor, said "My first thought was that I really didn't want to eat it. It's pretty unnatural to eat a black burger and it didn't appeal to me at all. I found the colour immediately off-putting. There's no way of making a burger with a black bun look appetising. It tasted better than I thought, but the bread was really dry and tasted floury. I can see why some people might enjoy it but it just wasn't for me."

This is what Burger King's black Whopper really tastes like. Jess Long, 22, a video editor, said "The burger looked more the less the same as any other Burger King burger except the bun is black! It does look very artificial and that it could have been made out of play-doh. I was expecting more of a burnt look. The colouring was kind of exciting! The idea of a black burger just seems criminal to me. It is always good to try something new but they could have added something else to the bun to make it look more spooky. It tasted no different to any other Burger King burger I have had." This is what Burger King's black Whopper really tastes like. Padraig Prendergast, 26, a journalist, said "The black colour when you open the box is a bit alien - it's scary. The colour is off-putting yet intriguing at the same time. The first thought I had was, what on God's earth is this going to taste like? The answer: sweet, dry, floury bread. Not that different from usual burgers. It's mad how the colour black can make our mind think that this is automatically going to be vile. I would buy it as a laugh after a night out for a friend just to see their reaction or if they'd even notice at all!" This is what Burger King's black Whopper really tastes like. Shipping & Delivery

Due to COVID-19, shipping systems the world over are experiencing abnormal delays. There is an enormous demand on postal and delivery services as online shopping has skyrocketed, due to store closures and stay-at-home mandates. This is an unprecedented situation, and we are working around the clock to fulfill your orders as quickly as possible. To be clear, we are filling orders in 4-6 days, and we are shipping immediately after that. Once shipped, our shipping partner, UPS, will get your order out to you as quickly as possible. Thanks for your support and understanding.

Are you in Canada? Specifically, are you outside of a metropolitan centre? We need to alert you to a disruption in shipping due to COVID-19. Our preferred shipping provider, UPS, has informed us that they cannot guarantee express shipping for many locations. We have also seen that packages delivered to Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, etc, are not waylaid, but packages delivered to areas just outside of these cities are being held in transit for days or even weeks. UPS has discontinued their guarantee of 1-4 day delivery, which you can read more about here. Therefore, we can guarantee early fulfillment but not early delivery of our goods from our warehouse to your door at this time.

We want you to start your fitness journey with us as quickly as possible, that’s why we send every package to the USA & Canada via expedited or standard shipping with our partners at UPS. Once your order is received and processed, it typically takes 2-4 days to get to you once it leaves our warehouse. That’s our commitment and we stand by it.

We ship within Canada and the United States via UPS with Standard & Expedited shipping (whichever is faster)

For locations outside of the US and Canada, we ship using FedEx International (EUROPE and Other Nations), which is usually in transit for 7-10 business days, depending on location.

We ship all of our physical products with UPS, from our warehouse location in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Delays caused due to custom withholds are not included in these estimated delivery times.
