Why Camel Toe Shaming Needs To Come To An End
There is no doubt you know the term and if you are a female or a female identified person, you've spent some time and effort trying to hide one.
Camel toe, in case you don't know, occurs when tight fighting bottoms ride up enough so that you are able to make out the shape of a woman's vulva. It is widely considered a fashion no no and as something just generally distasteful.
But why?
When a man wears tight pants and his business is on full display, people take notice but it isn't met with disgust, it is met with accolades.
It is hard for women to feel comfortable in tight pants or even just hanging out in leggings because, heaven forbid, those pants reveal she has genitals. At some point, women's bodies have become something to be ashamed of. No one should ever feel they can't wear something because it might show the hint of something we all know she has in the first place.
Is it that women's bodies are so incredibly sexualized that even the hint of her body fills us with disgust or, at the very least, discomfort? Is this why women in revealing and form fitting clothes are viewed as vulgar and shameless?
But really, aren't bodies just bodies? Women's bodies are far from vulgar. All of our bodies, male and female and everything in between are beautiful. And although our society dictates a certain level of modesty when it comes to clothing, there isn't really anything cringe worthy about a camel toe. We don't get up in arms when the shape of a woman's breast is revealed through tight clothing so why the fuss over the camel toe? Do women's bodies need to be that closely scrutinized?
Women should feel free to wear what they want and feel comfortable doing so.
Do you agree that it is just enough already with the camel toe shaming?
