Need to get gum out of your hair or clothes? Try this old wives' tale: Use peanut butter to get gum out of your hair or off your clothes. Turns out that this is one of the best ways to avoid having to chop off that clump of gum-matted hair! Peanut butter is hydrophobic, meaning that water simply slides right off it. Gum is also hydrophobic, so some believe that mixing the two substances makes it possible to remove it from the hair.   [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="670"] Source: www.wikihow.com[/caption] According to other sources, the oils and fats in the peanut butter may actually help to dissolve the chewing gum, at least enough that you can pull it out of your hair, off your clothes, or possibly even off that beautiful rug! If you find yourself with gum in your hair, take a teaspoon of peanut butter and rub it right onto the piece of gum. You can use a toothbrush or your fingers to rub it in, but once it's properly mixed, the gum should slide off easily. Rinse your hair to get out the oils from the peanut butter, and Voila!
