Wounded War Veterans Show Strength And Fitness In Sexy Calendar Style Shots

Michael Stokes is a fine arts photographer from California and he has done something pretty empowering and amazing. His project began with Alex Minsky, a U.S. Marine whose leg was amputated after suffering a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in 2009. Minsky posed proudly and confidently and before long, other veterans were signing up. All of this interest and all of these photos has lead to Stokes releasing a book called "Always Loyal." “Some people will say to me ‘Oh, this is really helpful to their self-esteem,’ or, ‘You’re making them feel like men again,'” Stokes told MTV. “These guys have come to me very healed and ready to take the world on. I’m not giving them back their confidence. They already have it.” Well said! It is obvious that these military men and women worked very hard not only throughout their service but throughout their recovery. Beautiful work all around!
