WTF? Eyeball Licking Fetish Featured on YouTube

June 28, 2013 1 min read

If eyeball licking as a means of expressing affection has been around for a while, it’s certainly new to us. Students in Japan are certainly warming to the idea. In fact, the trend reached a disturbing level of popularity. School administrators were alerted to the existence of eyeball licking when a disturbing number of students began showing up with eye-patches. There are even videos on YouTube of this peculiar practice.

The technical term for this new craze is called 'oculolinctus', and it has been the cause of infections and can cause blindness. Another term for this strange sensation is 'worming'.

Diseases transmitted via oculolinctus include conjunctivitis as well as herpes.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, San Diego ophthalmologist, Dr. David Granet warned, "Nothing good can come of this. There are ridges on the tongue that can cause a corneal abrasion. And if a person hasn't washed out their mouth, they might put acid from citrus products or spices into the eye." This, of course, could damage the eye tissue.

The sensation of 'worming' has been likened to having your toes sucked; apparently it causes a tingling feeling.

We, for one, are ALL about letting your freak flag fly, but not at the expense of your health. Your partner may be free of STDs, but even the cleanest human mouth is riddled with bacteria. There are other safe ways to share intimacy without permanently damaging your peepers.
