Yoga Keeps Us Forever Young

dsc_0013-1 Who says flexibility decreases with age? Not 87 year old yoga enthusiast & instructor Bette Calman. She is probably more flexible & energetic than half of the people reading this post. According to her, yoga can keep you feeling young forever.   Bette_Calman2 Bette began her yoga journey when she saw a male yogi standing on his head and immediately she wanted to do the same! When she tried it, she was amazed at how much energy it had given her throughout her body. She kept with the practice after noticing how great she felt after each and every class she attended. She ended up loving yoga so much that she became an instructor and even taught up to 11 classes per week! Amazing & inspirational, right? na_wk12_blog_mothersday Bette says that the secret to aging is to "keep on keeping on" and to not give up because when you do, it then becomes an issue. She also states that she can do more now than she could 50 years ago. The body is an amazing machine and how old we are shouldn't affect how we feel! As we get older, we find ourselves complaining more and more about the things that our bodies cannot do instead of working on it and making our bodies with age by practice. Lifestyle4 So how exactly does yoga keeps us feeling young as we age? Here are a few ways:
  • Increased flexibility
  • Boosts immunity
  • Eases headaches
  • Improves sex drive
  • Improves self image
  • Head to toe toning
  • Improves sleep
  • Improves mood
  • De-stresses & calms
  • Gets rid of aches & stiff joints and muscles.
  • Increases energy

You are never too old to reach your health & fitness goals!
