7 Self Care Tips You Can Do in 2 Minutes or Less
Let’s face it, the world’s a busy place and it’s easy to get caught up in the “must do” mentality. If life were perfect, we’d have time to set aside every day for self-care but for many of us, that’s not always possible. What if we found just a bit of time to recharge and help us get through the day with a little less stress? Find two minutes and I’ll show you how you can rebalance and keep moving through the day in a positive and healthy way.
1. Meditation
Whether you’re experienced or new to meditation, it’s a great way to refocus. You can download many apps with guided meditations specific to your needs like calming, and let experienced leaders take you on a quick reflective journey. Most mediation involves deep breathing and positive thoughts to lead you into a more productive and calm headspace.
2. Quick Workout
If you’re someone who needs physical activity to recharge, have a few of your favourite stretches or yoga positions at the ready. You can also power up for a quick and sweaty HIIT session. Yes, even two minutes can boost your mental and physical energy! Taking some time to tune into you body can almost instantly help you reset, mind, body and soul.

3. Essential Oils
Find a scent that you like and makes you feel good and incorporate it into your day. If you can have a diffuser in your office, turn it on when you know the day will be a challenge and it will help you keep your focus. You can also use essential oil satchels in your gym bag, essential oil infused hand creams and body lotions and even ingest essential oils in the form of supplements, like lavender oil pills. (Just be sure to only use essential oil supplements, since these are made to be ingested and will be made of 100% pure essential oil: no perfumes or additives.)
4. Express Gratitude
Grab a piece of paper and write down 5 things you’re grateful for. Keep it simple and focus on the things that truly make you happy. Once you’re done writing, take a deep breath and read your list. I’ll bet you get an instant smile and will be ready to face your next task.
5. Turn the music up!
Make yourself a playlist of the songs that make you happy, turn the volume up and dance! You can’t frown and worry when there’s a song that needs to be sung at the top of your lungs. If you’re in the car, crank it up! If you find yourself stuck in the office, pop on your headphones and shut the door. Even if you can’t dance or sing, just listening to a song that makes you happy will instantly reset your mood.
6. Phone a friend
We all get stuck in a text/email loop these days but remember how great it was to talk on the phone with your friends? Instead of sending a text, pick up the phone and call the friend that always makes you smile. You’ll instantly feel better and strengthen your relationship at the same time.
7. Plan a fun activity
When you feel wrapped up in work and deadlines, think about your next vacation or weekend road trip. Research fun things to do when you get there and make a list of the places you want to visit and restaurants you want to try. Don’t have time for a trip? Find something local and plan a day with your partner, family or friends! It will give you something to look forward to and shift your thoughts away from the daily grind.
