I started with BodyRock on Facebook in September of 2017, but I didn’t truly commit until May of 2019. After I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease it was recommended that I exercise daily to curtail the symptoms. I could no longer afford CrossFit, so I decided to keep Sweatflix. I have been hooked ever since.
My beginning weight was 247-252lbs and I am currently 194-205ilbs. I am constant gaining/losing weight and always bloated due to my disease, mainly due to my medications--but I couldn’t blame all of it on the medicine. My eating habits were bad. I knew I couldn’t out-run a bad diet and that I was losing the battle.
So in May of 2019, I refocused my goals. My eating habits changed gradually and the weight started to drop slowly. I discovered I felt better, slept better and had fewer stomach issues after I workout. The benefits of exercising outweighed the weight lost. When I started BodyRock I had to modify a lot for a long period of time. But now I don’t modify as much. I can deadlift 195lbs, clean and press 40lbs, can do a full burpee and skip without stopping.
As I approach my 54th birthday next year, I am going to embrace everything that my body will allow me to. It’s amazing what your body will do once you give it time and remain consistent. My 2 1/2 year anniversary is approaching in May of 2020. I believe I will reach my goal weight and I am going to enjoy every bit of my fitness journey. BodyRock has been a lifesaver.
